Opac Sunshades for Masquenada yacht

The renovation of the yacht was completed with the installation of blackout systems characterised by a design integrated with that of the boat.

Last June, the 51-metre expedition yacht M/Y "Masquenada", owned by fashion entrepreneur and sailing enthusiast Pier Luigi Loro Piana, was launched at the Lusben yard in Livorno. This was a laborious and intense refit that began in October 2020 and involved a radical transformation of the yacht, which was originally conceived as a workboat.

To complete the yacht's refit, the yard asked Opac to design and build shading systems for an upper deck. The Masquenada was thus enriched with a pair of electrically operated sunshades with remarkable dimensions (8 metres long and 1.5 metres high), which were installed a few weeks ago.

The system consists of a series of blades made of teak with a structural core of anodised aluminium. All blades rotate on their own axis, allowing the required shading and at the same time creating air circulation. The angled sides design is intended to fit the sunshades perfectly into the spaces intended for this purpose, thus making their presence more harmonious.

This product is characterized by its great structural lightness and a design that is perfectly integrated with that of the boat," explains Luca Sacco, managing director of Opac, "What's more, the sunshade can be made without any length restrictions thanks to the system of dividing the span into several sections. This is the application of the concept of 'designed and built to measure' that characterizes all our products".
